微軟日前宣佈 Windows 8.1 將在 10 月 18 日登場(Windows 8 用戶可在 10 月 17 日晚上 7 點於 Windows 市集免費下載更新版本)。今日微軟也公佈 Windows 8.1 預載軟體，其中 Skype 通訊軟體也確定成為預載軟體之一。

隨著 Windows 8.1 登場日期逼近，微軟也在官方部落格 Windows Experience Blog 釋出更多相關內容。Windows 8.1 將與 Bing 搜尋引擎、SkyDrive 雲端空間更緊密結合，在即時通訊領域方面，先前預載在 Windows 系統的 MSN (Windows Live Messenger) 已收攤(中國地區除外)，因此這回 Windows 8.1 理所當然將 Skype 扶持為正宮，成為 Windows 8.1 預載軟體之一。

微軟將持續「one experience」理念，Windows 8.1 預載的 20 幾款軟體也都是達成「one experience」的重要成員。其中包含 Outlook.com、SkyDrive、IE、Skype 等重要的應用軟體，影音娛樂方面則交給 Xbox Music、Gmaes、Video；Bing 也擔任生活方面的重大角色，包含 Bing Health & Fitness、Bing Food & Drink、Bing News、Bing Weather 等解決使用者的食衣住行需求。
