UN人權專員：斯里蘭卡走向威權國家

聯合國人權事務高級專員皮萊(Navi Pillay)今天(31日)嚴詞抨擊斯里蘭卡政府，日漸顯示出走向威權國家的跡象。

皮萊結束一週來在斯里蘭卡視察人權情況之後，發表措辭嚴厲的聲明指出，儘管斯里蘭卡內戰結束4年來，提供了該國良好的機會，以建設成一個生氣蓬勃、包容各派的國家；但是，斯里蘭卡仍舊出現日漸走向威權國家的跡象，令她深感關切。

皮萊在這次訪問期間，會晤了斯里蘭卡政府官員、政治人物、人權活躍人士，以及受到戰爭影響的人們。她將在下個月向聯合國人權理事會，報告這次在斯里蘭卡的所見所聞。

皮萊表示，戰爭雖然已經結束，但在同時，民主被破壞了，法治也遭到侵蝕。皮萊指出，斯里蘭卡政府在3年前廢止了獨立的警察、司法與人權委員會的條文，並且授予總統任命這些委員會主席的權力。

皮萊指出，今年初，司法委員會主席遭到彈劾的爭議，以及顯然將高級司法官員的任命權予以政治化，已經動搖了民眾對司法獨立的信心。
