高個女 更易罹癌

根據今天發布的美國研究，高個女罹患癌症的風險可能比個子嬌小的女子更大。

研究刊登在美國癌症研究學會（American Association for Cancer Research）發行的「癌症流行病學、生物標記與預防」（USjournal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention）期刊上。

學者研究年齡介於五十至七十九歲的停經後婦女，發現身高每高十公分，婦女罹癌風險就升高十三％。

紐約葉希瓦大學愛因斯坦醫學院（Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University）流行病學家卡巴特（Geoffrey Kabat）為研究主筆，他說：「根本上，癌症是與生長過程有關的疾病，所以荷爾蒙或其他影響身高的生長因子也可能影響罹癌風險。」

研究員追蹤這些婦女十二年發現，身高較高的婦女也可能比較容易罹患乳癌、大腸癌、子宮內膜癌、腎臟癌、卵巢癌、甲狀腺癌、多發性骨髓瘤及黑色素瘤。這十四萬五千名婦女參與研究前都未罹患癌症，其中兩萬九百廿八人在研究期間罹癌。

在調整年齡、體重、教育程度、抽菸習慣、飲酒量及荷爾蒙治療等因素後，身高依舊與罹癌風險有關。

高個女罹患腎臟癌、直腸癌、甲狀腺癌及血癌的風險更高；身高每高十公分，罹患這些癌症的風險就升高廿三％至廿九％。

卡巴特說：「可能是因為身高較高的人器官較大，皮膚面積也較大，有較多細胞可能轉化成惡性細胞。」

他說：「但也別忘了，年齡、吸菸習慣、身體質量指數及其他特定風險因子影響更大。」
