〔自由時報記者陳筱琳／綜合報導〕英國穆雷尋求衛冕今年美國網球公開賽男單冠軍，因下雨苦等多時才打第1輪比賽，不過手感不受影響，6：2、6：4、6：3輕取法國羅德哈。

穆雷和羅德哈之戰在紐約當地時間接近晚上10點才開打，是今年美網第1輪比賽等最久的球員，穆雷說：「在這樣的時間打第1輪比賽很不理想，但你只想趕快上場打球，不管在中央球場或第15球場，都不重要了。」美網最晚開始的比賽，是2009年男單第3輪美國布雷克和西班牙羅布雷多一戰，晚上10點25分才展開。

美國33歲女將大威廉絲，在女單第2輪以3：6、6：2、6：7（5：7）不敵中國鄭潔，2人這場打了3小時2分鐘，平美網自1970年有紀錄以來，第5長女單比賽。

大威單打世界排名下滑到第60，本屆排不進種子，次輪出局後她說：「很不幸地，我表現得不夠穩，整場比賽讓自己多次陷入危機，我很努力挽回頹勢，有時就是差那麼一點。」
